REVIEWS
NEW DAY RISINGの約30年ぶりの新作。 SPREAD THE DISEASEもやっているDave BuschemeyerがBa.
NEW DAY RISING’s first new release in nearly 30 years. My initial impression was that they sounded remarkably more polished, almost like GLASSJAW descending into an even darker place. But the more I listened, the more I realized that their sound hadn’t actually strayed that far from their earlier work. If anything, this feels like the culmination of a ferocious evolution of the ’90s hardcore sound.
Dave Buschemeyer, also of SPREAD THE DISEASE, has switched to bass, bringing even greater depth and weight to the band’s more melancholic side, while Chris Gray’s vocals have reached an entirely new level of expressiveness.
This is far more than just a reunion of the old lineup. It’s a testament to how much each of them has grown over the past 30-plus years, not only as musicians but as human beings.
This is a truly incredible record.
