Brazil’s ELLINIAH. From the delicate melodies that seem to echo both the red spider lilies on the cover and the title Qualis Vita, Finis Ita (Latin for “As one lives, so one ends”), the music unfolds into a sound firmly rooted in the screamo tradition, with a strong sense of dynamics that never becomes overly dramatic. The distinctly ’90s skramz-style vocals add another layer of sorrow, making this a remarkably cohesive and accomplished release. A record that showcases South American emo at its finest.
